I have the absolute cutest niece in the whole world. I love, love, love this kid. She likes to call and leave voicemails for me. These messages mostly contain a lot of gibberish, followed by “I love you Auntie Christy,” in her high-pitched baby voice. I save these messages and play them when I’m having a bad day.
With a niece I get all the joys of having a child in my life with really none of the real work. Unless you’re having dinner at your parent’s house and you have the little monster crawling all over you and stealing all your delicious tomatoes off your plate and putting them on hers, which is a no-no because no one comes between me and my tomatoes. But she likes to climb and what better climbing place than her auntie’s lap at dinner time. Oh the mind of a child so vast, yet so simple.
Anyway, my darling little Chlo-monster is currently being potty trained. She’s used the big girl potty 3 days in a row and has got 5 stickers for her potty chart so far. And today I got a text message about how she got two stickers because she went poop in the potty.
Oh yes, the good times of being auntie.
