Dinner and a Show

Surreal – Having an intense irrational reality of a dream

Last night I had what could only be construed as a surreal dinning experience. Not only was our waitress a little dingy, but she lacked any knowledge of health code rules and regulations.
I met up with Krysta after work in order to participate in Art Walk. We had planned to go check out the Halloween party at Ramp Art and the museums. Instead we stumbled upon Krysta’s friend Phil – okay he showed up at her house while she was getting ready- and we decided to go to dinner first and then check out the art scene.

After driving around for what seemed like an eternity we decided on Thai food. So we went to this place I discovered with my parents. We all at “family style” sharing our platers of food with our neighbors. We’re waiting for our food and Phil says … “I wish we ordered egg rolls” No sooner did he say it did the waitress bring some to our table. I told Phil to hurry and say he wished for a million dollars, but he was too busy stuffing the egg rolls into his mouth. Knowing we didn’t order them I kept saying “Our these even ours?” No – they weren’t but the waitress comp’s us on them because it was her mistake.

After stuffing ourselves to the brink of sickness the waitress comes over and asks us if we’ve ever had sticky rice. Phil looking at the bowl of rice in front of him says “yeah that’s what this is.” The waitress response that that isn’t and she’s going to go get us some. She disappears into the kitchen and Phil looks at our rice and says … “Well this isn’t Uncle Ben’s!”

The waitress reemerges with a bowl of rice that to me looks like it’s been left out overnight. It was seriously crusty. She asked if we wanted some and Krysta and Phil say sure… I declined. So she starts to serve it WITH HER HANDS. I’m not kidding here. She’s scooping it out with her hands. Then come to find out this is her PERSONAL bowl of rice that she’s been eating on her break.

Three words … OH MY GOD!
