I was attacked last night by a ladybug, a crazed GIANT ladybug

So there I was minding my own business, getting ready for bed and a ladybug dive bombed me! Yep that little booger slammed right into the side of my face and scared the holy you-know-what out of me. Not only did it scare me but it also kind of hurt, and because I was so startled, I … I can’t bare to say it … I … ended up killing it. Accidentally I swear! I mean I thought it was a moth dive bombing me and so I feel that my reaction was in accordance to my feeling threatened. But now I feel pretty badly, especially when I saw another one fluttering by my bedroom light. “Oh No,” I thought. “Did I kill its mate? Is it searching for its lost love?”

Every year about this time I have a ladybug infestation in my apartment. I mean I’ll have them all over the place. Last year one of them (the same one I’m sure of it) would land on my hand and watch TV with me. It was my own little episode of Charlotte’s Web, except they were ladybugs not spiders and I’m not a pig named Wilbur …. Okay it was nothing like Charlottes Web…

My mom says it’s a good sign when a Ladybug lands on you, and according to the many Ladybug Lore websites (yep, there is more than one, and no I don’t know which is sadder, the fact that there are so many sites or the fact that I stayed up late searching for them).

Here’s what I discovered:
~ If you find a ladybug in your house, count the number of spots and that is how many dollars you will soon receive. (Oops, next time!)
~ If you find a ladybug in your house in the winter you will have good luck. (It’s not technically winter yet, is it?!)
~ Nearly ALL cultures believe that a Ladybug is lucky. (Wait ago Mom -way to know your ladybug lore!)
~ Killing one is said to bring sadness and misfortune. (Oh crap!)

I just found this great Chinese poem about the ladybug. I think I might add it to my pile of tattoos. This way I’ll always have luck. It’ll go next to my dragonfly and “Fiery Spirit” tats… Once I finally man up and get them that is ...
