If you’re homeless and you litter – does that make you a bad housekeeper?

Today I saw some community service volunteer; oops, I mean court ordered workers, picking up trash on the side of the road. I’d hate it if that was my job - I don’t look good in orange!

I just don’t get why people litter. I once tried to litter, but the guilt was too much for me and I went back and picked up my trash. Needless to say my conscious always outweighs my desire to do something “bad,” for example when quitting my job I wanted to peel away in my car with my middle finger high in the air yelling the big F.U. out the window as I speed away, but like I told my friends, that five minutes of pleasure would have haunted me the rest of my whole life.

Back to the point... I don’t get why people litter. Why people can not take that extra step to throw something in the trash. What is it about us that makes it okay to just drop something where we stand without even a second thought?

Let me close in using a quote that I heard on one of my favorite TV shows … “The road to the apocalypse is paved with disposable container, my friend.”
