I’d like a robot friend, very much!

I like this time of year. It’s a time when you can sit back and reflect on the 365 days you just lived, picking out your “dos” and your “never agains.” There is something refreshing about the idea that a New Year can bring new possibilities. It’s as if as this year scrolls up into a higher number bracket you too change with it.

Looking back I do not regret any of my actions, which is good, which makes me think I’m finally growing into my own skin. So what about 2008? What choices will I make this year that will shape the future me? It’s a puzzle … I don’t put stock in the traditional New Years Resolutions, the whole lose 40pds, eat better, or change your life completely kind of way, anyway. I usually put down three things I want to accomplish let it be going to a new place or trying a new thing, something that will broaden my horizons.

In 2008 my top three are:

1. Go overseas again (Ireland, Scotland or Portugal) – although I did just find cheap airfare to New Zealand … so we shall see…
2. Submit fiction to literary magazines (the poetry is doing well, it’s time to take this writing thing to the next level!
3. Final buy a house or Seattle condo – which ever comes first

I think they’re all very doable! My list actually contains 12 items, one for each month, but I did want to bore you!

So to end 2007 please find a funny tidbit, that I did not write, but found on the internet…

Friendquest
A term used by lonely networkers who roam around online in search of friends. Remember when people would just walk down the street to a bar?

Used in a sentence: "No, Mr. Hansen, you have it all wrong. I didn’t come here looking for sex with a minor. I’m just on a friendquest."

Chances we’ll be using this buzzword in the year 2017: Pretty slim. By 2017, the technology should exist so people can have robot friends.

Happy New Year!
