I belong to a Shakespeare acting troupe that puts on outdoor summer productions for the community free of charge.
We of course adapt the hell out of the pieces, make them kid friendly. The coolest things is pulling a child up from the audience and having them help us during a sword fight. I’ve done some stuff that blew me away and other stuff that I refused to invite anyone to.
Currently the artistic director and I are working on an adaptation of Richard the III for an independent film. We’re focusing on the female roles in the play. Both of us are really looking at the seductive qualities of Richard and creating a physical transformation to display his seduction - as his appearance changes before their eyes he weaves his spell around them. It’s the most inspired I’ve been about a piece in a long time.
My current personal work has been mostly poetry and I’m hoping to branch out into article writing again.
