Being my friend is never boring

This weekend I went to the Moisture Festival and watched Burlesque in the Round at ACT theatre. The show, more Vaudeville than Burlesque, was an experience I won’t soon forget. In fact it has knocked Rebar’s Drunken Puppet Show out of my “Oh I thought this was going to be way different,” life events.

You see I keep telling Aimee that she’s going to love Burlesque, let me take you to Burlesque, blah, blah, blah Burlesque. So in Vegas we got tickets to Burlesque X, the X meaning that they X’d out the Burlesque portion and just went for naked dancing. Good times. Of course it doesn’t help that Aimee and I thought we were going to be the victims of a taxi cab serial killer there and back, but we live to tell the tale.

So then rolls around the Moisture Festival and I’m thinking great, this is the perfect event to take her to with the bonus that the show will feature burlesque performers from around the country. Excellent! Then the show starts and the robust (and by robust I mean large) ladies in cowboy outfits step on stage and all I can say to Aimee is “I get you into all kinds of trouble, don’t I?!”

Needless to say, I took Aimee to a Vaudeville show where my favorite act was the ninja dancers. Yes I did mean to type ninja dancers. Just wait for the stories that are sure to follow the Cabaret show I’m taking her to in June or the Burlesque show in October where the dancers strip tease to the music of Led Zeppelin. I even bet I can find a naked hula dancing event or something just as out there during our upcoming Hawaii trip. Being my friend has both its advantages and disadvantages. At least it’s never boring.
